## Ample Bass J 4: the session bassist who never cancels
Every mix engineer knows the session that needs bass and has no bassist. Ample Bass J 4 is Ample Sound’s answer: a v4-generation virtual Fender Jazz Bass — sampled from a John English Masterbuilt instrument — that plays, articulates, and sits in a mix like a hired player. It arrives with Fingerstyle and Pick libraries, 13 articulations, a full amp and mic modeling section, and mix-ready FX, so the bass you write on Monday is the bass you print on Friday.
The Jazz Bass earned its place on more records than any other electric bass because it does everything: the bridge pickup barks, the neck pickup rounds out, and together they cover funk, rock, pop, soul, R&B, jazz, and metal. Ample Bass J 4 captures that range with 3.71 GB of 24-bit samples — sustain, palm mute, natural harmonic, hammer on and pull off, legato slide, slide in and out, slap, pop, tap, accents, repeat notes, and dead notes — driven by a polyphonic legato engine and a slide smoother that keep even dense, fast parts sounding connected instead of stitched.
### Write it like a player, not a programmer
Riffer 4 is the composition core, and it’s built around a simple insight: bass MIDI sounds fake when it ignores the instrument’s physics. Its string visualization system maps your notes onto virtual strings, so you’ll never hear two notes choked onto the same string or a fingering no human could execute. Switch between piano roll and tab views in real time, edit articulation, legato, fingering, and expression directly — no keyswitch charts taped to your monitor — and draw dynamics across multiple MIDI CC and velocity lanes with one-click curve presets. Hundreds of included riffs cover the common ground; Tab Reader 4 imports Guitar Pro files (GP3 through Guitar Pro 8) with the full performance — fingering, articulations, feel — intact. Drop tuning to B0 is supported when the song goes low.
### A complete bass chain in one insert
Printing bass used to mean DI plus an amp sim plus EQ plus compression. Ample Bass J 4 folds that chain into the instrument: three classic bass heads (Vintage-15, Bass-500, Bass-Pro), four cabs (1×15, 2×10, 4×10, 8×10), and four mics (U87, C414, MD421, SM57) for the cabinet stage, then an 8-band EQ, compressor, delay, and convolution reverb for polish. Dial the amp for character, shape the EQ for the mix pocket, and commit — or record the DI-style dry signal and re-amp later. Either way, you skip the plugin-chain juggling and the phase headaches that come with it.
### Built for the working studio
Ample Bass J 4 loads as VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX (64-bit), with a standalone host for writing away from the DAW. It runs on macOS 10.15+ and Windows 7–11 (64-bit), wants an Intel Core i5, AMD Ryzen 5, or Apple Silicon M1 or better, and needs just over 10 GB of disk on an internal drive or fast external SSD. One license, both platforms — the download links for Mac and Windows come with your purchase.
When the demo needs weight, the chorus needs drive, or the client needs bass yesterday, this is the instrument that shows up ready to play.
Every customer receives their own individual license key. Instant email delivery, with download links for both Mac and Windows included.
